Bright. Kind. Energetic. I would use those words to describe this Dewitt High School senior. She drove down to my backyard for her senior photo shoot. A warm and sunny afternoon made for a wonderful evening with fantastic light. I can remember the stress of being a senior, and everyone wanting to know where you were going to college, what your major will be, what job you expect to have for the next 100 years…..So.Much.Pressure. So, we we chatted about other things. We had fun. She was a natural.
She plays the guitar and sings. She had a gig earlier that afternoon. That purple bow?
“It is my signature. Music is a gift. I always want to remember that.”
This is her last year in color guard. She brought along her flags for some photos. She did a brief performance and my son instantly elevated her to hero status. Rumor has it, she gave a fantastic performance as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Her parents came along and I wanted to grab a few with all three of them. Right after, she asked if she could take one with her dad. Absolutely! They have a really beautiful and special relationship. She and her mom might be best friends. They are so proud of this lady (as they should be!) and it shows. She requested a hop up on his back for a picture…his response….
“just like old times..right, V?” I might have teared up.
